HIÊN LÂM DUC 1966
Vietnam, Hoa Lu, 1997. Photography. Silver print on baryta paper, posterior, signed, titled and dated in pencil on the back. Image : 13 x 19 cm ; sheet : 18 x 24 cm. Hiên Lâm Duc (Laotian, born in 1966) arrived in France in 1977 after years of exile and flight with his family, following the victory of the Pathet-Lao. He then discovered a thirst for learning and graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Lyon. He begins a photographic work engaged throughout the world, both in his personal projects and on commission. In particular, he produces an important testimony of the conflict in Iraq, a territory he has been covering for 25 years. He also documents the influence of contemporary world developments on life along the Mekong River, of which we present here four black and white prints. Hiên Lâm Duc is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Leica Prize, the Villa Médicis Hors les murs scholarship, the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation scholarship and a World Press Photo.
