JOSÉ MANUEL NAVIA 1957
1987, Region of Ancares, North-Western Spain. Photography. Period cibachrome print, signed by the author in ink on the back. Image: 17 x 25 cm; sheet: 45 x 55 cm. José Manuel Navia (Spanish, born in 1957), with the work of light and colour as a guiding thread, explores various territories and documents subjects that are varied but always related to Iberian, Hispanic or Andalusian cultures. He also offers photographic journeys in the company of great contemporary writers, or in the footsteps of authors he admires. His photographs are part of the collections of the Community of Madrid, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid, the Centro de Arte d'Alcobendas, the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art (MIMOCA) in Japan. Here he gives us a set of sublime cibachrome prints that show all the mastery of light of this master of colour.
