JOSÉ MANUEL NAVIA 1957 - Lot 85
JOSÉ MANUEL NAVIA 1957 Paraguay, Iturbe slaughterhouse, 1994. Photograph. Period cibachrome print mounted on cardboard, signed in ink and with the author's label on the back. Slight scratch on the surface. Print : 27 x 40 cm ; Cardboard : 35 x 50 cm. José Manuel Navia (Spanish, born in 1957), with the work of light and colour as a guiding thread, explores various territories and documents various subjects but always related to Iberian, Hispanic or Andalusian cultures. He also offers photographic journeys in the company of great contemporary writers, or in the footsteps of authors he admires. His photographs are part of the collections of the Community of Madrid, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid, the Centro de Arte d'Alcobendas, the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art (MIMOCA) in Japan. Here he gives us a set of sublime cibachrome prints that show all the mastery of light of this master of colour.
