Pile of human bones, ca. 1890. Photograph. Citrate print mounted on card. 19 x 14 cm. These bones, intended to frighten the enemies of King M'Siri, were displayed at the entrances to the village, and in places visible to his enemies. King M'Siri was killed by three bullets from a revolver by a Belgian army officer, Omer Bodson, on December 20, 1891.
