Fenton" below the image, located in pencil below the image.Image: 35.5 x 44 cm; mount: 39 x 48 cm.The choice of Fenton, a founding member of the Photographic Society of London, to practice photography was undoubtedly influenced by his correspondence with Gustave Le Gray and Henri Le Secq. Having mastered painting, he finally turned to photography and became famous in the United Kingdom in 1852 for his architectural views and his views of Russia. In 1862, tired of the photographic market, he decided to abandon the medium to become a lawyer.
