Argentic has marked the world of Parisian photography.

For 17 years, the website and then the gallery have exhibited the great names of photography, revealing a passionate look, that of its founder Eric Boudry.

It is this vision that will be offered to collectors during the auction of April 13, 2023 at the Hôtel Drouot by Maître Yann Le Mouël and Charlotte Barthélemy, photography expert.

The auction will feature works by Claude Batho, Édouard Boubat, Brassaï, Denis Brihat, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Lucien Clergue, Jean Dieuzaide, Elliott Erwitt, Irina Ionesco, Izis, Jean-François Jonvelle, Josef Koudelka, Bernard Plossu, René-Jacques, Marc Riboud, Willy Ronis, Roger Schall, Jean-Pierre Sudre, Sabine Weiss, as well as photographs by Robert Doisneau from the Porcile Collection.

If I had to remember only one quote about photography, it would be the one by Paul Strand

at the opening of his 2006 exhibition at the Museum of American Art in Giverny:

I want to make big emotions out of small things...

This sentence sums up everything I love about the images I have collected for over 40 years

and it is always present in the work of the photographers that I had the honor and the joy to know and

to know and to exhibit.

It is my turn to pass on the baton, today, I am parting with the collection of the gallery

ARGENTIC, with the pleasure of being able to show you one last time these little things,

fragments of eternity.

I propose to you to find them in this catalog and in auction at the Hôtel Drouot.

Thanks to you, these photographs will continue their lives towards other horizons. Because, after all

after all, it is not we who look at them, but they who look at us.

François Porcile is a film director and film historian, born in Paris on March 3, 1944. He has

more than 150 films, short and feature films, fictions and documentaries, for cinema and

and television, including two with Robert Doisneau.

- 1972 : " Le Paris de Robert Doisneau " which won the short film prize at the Colombo

of Colombo.

- 1981 : " Robert Doisneau, badaud de Paris, pêcheur d'images ".

For the realization of these two films, François Porcile and Robert Doisneau selected a little more than

All the photographs have in the center the reference of the negative, written by Robert

Doisneau and, for those used in the films, a number written in a corner by François

Porcile.

This collection, acquired in 2016 by the ARGENTIC gallery, is offered for sale here, for the

Le plus offrant et le dernier enchérisseur sera l’adjudicataire et aura l’obligation de payer comptant.

En cas de litige la S.V.V YANN LE MOUEL aura le droit de résoudre la vente et de remettre en vente le ou les lots objet(s) du litige EXPOSITION PUBLIQUE Une exposition ayant lieu au préalable, les acheteurs potentiels sont invités, à cette occasion, à examiner le ou les biens pouvant les intéresser et à constater leur état avant la vente aux enchères. Des rapports sur l’état des lots sont disponibles sur demande et restent à l’entière appréciation de l’acheteur. La vente se fera dans l’ordre du catalogue. Les attributions ont été établies compte-tenu des connaissances scientifiques et artistiques à la date de la vente. Les dimensions ne sont données qu’à titre indicatif. Si l’adjudicataire n’exécute pas les obligations ci dessus, le ou les lots concernés pourront être remis en vente à la même vacation ou à une vacation ultérieure, aux risques et périls de celui ci. Aucun achat ne sera remis avant le paiement intégral du prix de l’adjudication et des frais de vente de celui ci.

RETRAIT DES ACHATS

Dès l’adjudication, l’objet sera sous l’entière responsabilité de l’adjudicataire. A ce titre il appartient à ce dernier de procéder à un enlèvement rapide, afin d’éviter des frais de magasinage. Les objets ne pourront être délivrés qu’après paiement intégral de tous les achats fait au cours de la vente ( prix de l’adjudication frais compris, et des frais de manutention et de gardiennage) L’acquéreur sera lui même chargé de faire assurer ses acquisitions, et la S.V.V YANN LE MOUEL décline toute responsabilité quant aux dommages que l’objet pourrait encourir et ceci dès l’adjudication prononcée. TERMS OF SALE BY AUCTION

All purchases will be paid cash. In addition to the hammer price, buyers will pay the following fees and taxes by item: 25% TTC,( 27% TTC for purchases with Drouot live / 28 % TTC for purchases with invaluable ) All foreign fees for wire transfer will be charged on the buyer. EXHIBITION VIEWING

A pre- auction viewing allows bidders to ascertain the condition of the sale items. COLLECTION OF PURCHASES

As soon as the hammer goes down, the lot is under the responsibility of the purchaser. Buyers are advised to collect their purchases promptly, so to avoid storage costs. Purchased lots may only be collected after complete payment of all the lots bought during the auction ( Hammer price, sales costs, and handling and storage costs.). The purchaser is responsible for having his/her purchases insured, and the Auctioneer shall accept no responsibility for any damage sustained by the lot after the hammer has gone down.
