Berndt Jerry
Insight. Born in 1943, J. Berndt devoted himself to photojournalism and became a professor at the Boston Art Institute and the University of Massachusetts. This book presents his work from the 60s to the 80s in the bars of Boston, which the artist considers a "combat zone" (struggle with oneself, whisky, the night). It highlights his country's unresolved conflicts: opponents of the Vietnam War, beggars, social outcasts... and, over the course of his career, manages to erase the usual gap between spontaneous documentary photography and conceptual works. Text in English and German. Published in 2008 by Steidl. The book is hardcover with dust jacket, new, in original shrink-wrap. Publisher: Steidl
