Disfarmer Mike
Becoming Disarmer. Neuberger Museum of Art, 2014. Mike Disfarmer, the American photographer who died in 1959, remains something of an enigma. This self-taught, eccentric and solitary farmer's son spent forty years photographing the inhabitants of Heber Springs, a small rural community in Arkansas that he never left. Like a Ghisoland or a Chambi, Disfarmer embodies that particular lineage of modest craftsmen photographers who, in the everydayness of their work and their trade, have created a style, a genre specific to them, whose importance has been revealed over time. Hardcover, text in English. Brand new, in original shrink-wrap. Publisher: Neuberger Museum of Art
