Latin American photography books. Images En Manœuvres, 2011. Recognition of the importance of photo books in the history of photography and art is a recent phenomenon. A number of exhibitions and publications have contributed to this international appreciation. Among the first are "Fotografía Pública / Photography in Print 1919-1939" at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Madrid, 1999) and "Open Book from 1978 to the Present" at the Hasselblad Center (Goteborg, 2005), as well as the two-volume The History of Photobooks by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger (Phaidon, 2004 and 2006). A few Latin American photobooks are referenced here, but in reality they are few and far between. This may be explained by the absence of monographs and exhibitions on the subject. However, Latin American photo books have a long and remarkable history, dating back to the 1930s too, and involving many of the world's most important photographers. Le Livre de photographies d'Amérique Latine offers a fascinating pictorial tour of these titles that make photographic history. The texts are by Horacio Fernández, a specialist in the field. Very good condition. Publisher: Images En Manœuvres
