MATISSE Henri (1869-1954) Henri Matisse (1869-1954) Creole Dancer, 1950 Lithograph after Henri Matisse's "gouaches découpées" of 1950. Signed in the plate. Dimensions: + Sheet size: 35.5 x 26.5 cm / 13.9 x 10.4 in. From the emblematic Verve Vol. IX n° 35/36 published by Tériade under the title "Les dernières œuvres d'Henri Matisse". Condition: In very good condition, vivid colors. The most desirable lithograph produced under Matisse's supervision for a special issue of Verve devoted to Matisse's papiers découpés. These works were made by the artist with gouache-colored paper, cut with scissors and glued. They are presented here together with drawings executed at the same time or during the preceding period. Matisse composed the cover especially for this volume. These lithographic plates were printed in 1954 under his direction. The printing of the lithographs in color by Mourlot Frères and that of the photogravure reproductions and typography by the Draeger Frères master printers, was completed in Paris on July 28, 1958".
