Rare medium-sized print before the letters Dimensions: + Sheet size: 46 x 63 cm. - 18 x 25 in. Condition: In fair/good condition, but with several restored tears visible in the left margin. Water stains and restored vertical creases visible on image and edges. Vivid colors otherwise. Mounted on linen. Framed. Printed by Ecole Estienne with Verneau's authorization. Referenced in Bargiel & Zagrodzki 34, Crauzat 502, DFP-II 794, Wember 736 (all var) Rare proof before the letter. Verneau, the printer of the large-format poster, licensed the Ecole Estienne to print this deluxe version before the letters at the turn of the 19th century. Only one other referenced proof was sold by Swann in 2014, but with the printer's mark cropped out... The Ecole Estienne is a graphic arts and printing school founded in 1887, where lithographers were trained in the 19th century...
