SWITZERLAND - CHARLES VON BOUELL (active 1855-1860) Mittlere Brücke and cathedral, Basel, Switzerland, ca.1855-1861. Photographs. 2 prints on salted paper mounted on cardboard and captioned in pencil below the image. Images: 14.7 x 19.2 cm and 19.7 x 15.8 cm On the back of the mount is an albumen print of Lucerne. A primitive photographer, Charles Von Bouell produced several Basel salt paper prints between 1855 and 1861. Most of these are reproductions of portraits or religious works, always using the same technique.
