Marc Chagall (1887-1937) Fables de la Fontaine: Death and the Woodcutter, 1952 Original etching and aquatint on BFK Rives (watermark), from edition 200. Signed in the plate. Dimensions: + Image size: 29.5 x 24 cm - 11.61 x 9.45 in + Sheet size: 39 x 30 cm - 15.35 x 11.81 in Condition: In good condition with a few handling creases. A small crease on the upper left edge. On the reverse, residual traces of adhesive can be seen on the edges, as well as some discoloration. The image is otherwise very clean with vivid colors. Printed by Maurice Potin, Paris & Raymond Haasen, Paris. Published by Teriade Editeur, 1952. This portfolio was commissioned by Ambroise Vollard in 1927 to illustrate Jean de La Fonatine's Fables de La Fontaine.
