Alexis & Giulia Pentcheff - Alfred Lombard [1884-1973] & Raphael Ponson [1835-1904] - 2008 Alfred Lombard [1884-1973] The publication of this monograph, followed by the catalog raisonné of Alfred Lombard's painted work, finally offers collectors and enthusiasts of the Provencal painter a reference work. The result of a lengthy survey of his work by Giulia Pentcheff, this book sheds light on Lombard's unprecedented career, from Fauvism to mural decoration. A major figure of modernity in Provence, the painter attempted to breathe new cultural life into the city at the beginning of the 20th century, guided by a singular pictorial ideal that could not be attached to a single artistic movement. Raphael Ponson (1835-1904) This publication introduces Raphaël Ponson (1835-1904), an emblematic artist of late 19th-century Provencal painting. At the age of 15, he attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, where he studied under Emile Loubon, who introduced him to working from nature. A lover of Provence, he worked extensively in the south of France, particularly fond of seascapes, in which he excelled. Rocks, boats, fishermen, waves, always rendered with great accuracy in the treatment of light and color. A recognized artist, he took part in numerous Salons and exhibitions. The reproductions in this book are of remarkable quality, allowing us to grasp the full sensitivity of Ponson's work. The first part of the study includes a comprehensive biography of the artist (life, training, sources of inspiration) and a stylistic study of his painting and technique (touch, signature, style). The second part lists and presents Ponson's works in public and private collections. The works are presented thematically. With its content and illustrations, this publication is a real working tool for amateurs and connoisseurs alike. Galerie Alexis Pentcheff 2008-2019
