Le Corbusier - L'Immeuble-Villas & Precisions on the Pre - Lot 119
Le Corbusier - L'Immeuble-Villas & Precisions on the Present State of Architecture and City Planning - 2011-2015 LE CORBUSIER ET L'IMMEUBLE-VILLAS (2011) A manifesto project Although it was never built, not even as a model, and barely even sketched, the Immeuble-Villas played a central role in Le Corbusier's strategy for gaining commissions and recognition in the 1920s. Conceived in 1922 for the Salon d'Automne, this project served first and foremost as a link to complete his demonstration and link the Citrohan house to the urban planning of a city of three million inhabitants. By decreeing that the blocks of his plan would be designed by the simple superimposition of houses built in series, he was able to bring together all his previous positions on architecture and urban planning into a single theory, of which he pretended to master all the scales and technical implications. He can also use this figure to invest and synthesize themes dear to his time - the house, the series, the urbanism of modern cities - to support his own mediatization. To describe how his proposal worked, he drew on the arguments of an advertisement he had discovered a few months earlier. To draw the plan, he duplicated the Citrohan house plan in 24 copies along a passageway. Thereafter, he never specified his drawings of the Immeublevillas. He would, however, tirelessly repeat the description, completing, perfecting and reformulating it throughout the 1920s. A communication tool With the Immeuble-villas Le Corbusier Precisions on the Present State of Architecture and City Planning (2015) Precisions on the Present State of Architecture and City Planning, or Precisions, as the book is commonly known, originated from a series of ten lectures presented by Le Corbusier in Buenos Aires in 1929.This is the first edition to reproduce all forty drawings in color. 2011-2015
