UZBEKISTAN - SAMARCANDE - DMITRY NIKOLAEVICH POZHARISHCHENSKY (act.1920-1930) Set of photographs of Samarkand, 1926-1935. Medersa Cher-Dor, men and donkeys in an old street, couple and child in the mountains, fruit seller. Photographs. 4 vintage silver prints, 3 of which captioned or located in Russian and 1 with Russian stamp on back. Images: 10.2 x 8.2 cm to 12.3 x 16.6 cm These photographs appear to have been taken by the Russian engineer Dmitry Nikolaevich Pozharishchensky during his trips to Samarkand in the 1920s and 1930s. He may, however, have bought them locally. Postcards published from these photographs also mention the name of A. Poliakov, a Russian photographer from the turn of the century, although it is not possible to distinguish between his role as publisher and author.
