Lafon's photographic studio was located in Paris. He won a medal for the quality of his work at the Société Française de Photographie exhibition in 1874. Accustomed to capturing industrial views of dams, western railroads and factories, he also produced several series of views of World's Fair pavilions and cannons, such as the one shown here, as well as an album on the Ecole Polytechnique in 1885. Collard is the son of Hippolyte Collard. He took over his father's studio in 1867. This album includes rare views of the Commune by Lafon and Collard Fils, presented here in an exceptional state of preservation.
