Children on a boat, sailboats, family embarking, seaweed harvesting, Langle and the Golfe du Morbihan, steamboat, old sailboat at Conleau, fisherwomen raising the dredge, woman leaving for fishing and carrying bread on her head, hoisting the sail, Séné woman fishing, vegetable planting near the channel, procession at Séné. Photographs. 21 citrate prints, stamped by the author and some captioned in pencil on the back. Approx. 12 x 17 cm Paul Géniaux, originally from Rennes, settled in Paris as a photographer until the 1930s. He achieved success with a series of photographs of daily life, depicting the realities of craftsmen, fishermen and small street trades. Far removed from the aesthetics of the Pictorialists, he immersed himself in social issues, creating poetic testimonial images. Men and women at work inspired him in particular: canneries, fishermen, salt marshes and street vendors served as models. Beyond the realism of his images, Paul Géniaux uses careful framing and keen social observation.
