Louis Borgex (1873-1959) Les Sardinières, 1898 Lithograph on wove paper. Signed on the plate in the lower right-hand margin. The Estampe Moderne stamp is affixed in the lower right-hand corner. Dimensions: +Sheet size: 41 x 31 cm / 16 x 12 in. Condition : Very good overall condition, with light handling creases, a few minor stains and light discoloration at the edges. Small tears on the right margin of the paper. Otherwise very clean image. Published by Masson & Piazza, Paris. Like the Maitre de l'Affiche series, L'Estampe Moderne is a portfolio printed between 1897 and 1898, published by Imprimerie Champenois, Paris. It contains 24 monthly portfolios, each with four original lithographs. Each was commissioned exclusively for this series. In addition to Mucha, artists such as Rhead, Meunier, Ibels, Steinlen, Willette and Grasset contributed.
