Barbey Bruno China (2014). It was in the wake of President P - Lot 17
Barbey Bruno China (2014). It was in the wake of President Pompidou's official trip to China that Bruno Barbey discovered a China in the throes of change, but still under the influence of the Cultural Revolution. At the time, most of the population wore Mao suits and walls were covered with colorful slogans. A few years later, the photographer returned, and was already seeing the effects of Deng Xiaoping's invitation to the Chinese people: "Get rich! "Nanjing, Suzhou, Macao, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai... Bruno Barbey has returned to China many times, each time documenting, with images, the profound changes transforming the country. This book brings together a selection of photographs taken over the last forty years, and paints a portrait of a nation on the move, transformed in such a short time from a post-revolutionary era to the rank of the world's new economic giant. May 68 (2018) An unpublished text by Philippe Tesson, editor-in-chief of Combat at the time of the events. A new selection of photographs by Bruno Barbey, then reporting for the Magnum agency. Two witnesses to May 68 go back in time to mark the 50th anniversary of the events. This edition features an original text by Philippe Tesson, who was editor-in-chief of Combat at the time, the only newspaper to side with the demonstrators - at least until the nights of violence. Bruno Barbey is THE photographer of May 68. He covered the events on a daily basis for the Magnum agency, and his images travelled the world. This anniversary is an opportunity for him to present a new selection of photographs. éditions du pacifique
