Petersen Anders set of 3 photo books - Lot 190
Petersen Anders set of 3 photo books
- Close distance : Old or recent photographs made in Europe and Japan without precision of time or place. These characters are entered into a specific time where intimacy is revealed. Joy and enjoyment are often preceded by some violence. In this sense, it is difficult to qualify these images of portraits. This book accompanies an exhibition at the Museum of national photography at the Royal Library of Copenhagen. Text in English by Birna Marianne Kleivan
- Du mich auch: Petersen brings together 72 previously unpublished photographs, mostly from Hamburg and Stockholm in the late 1960s, presented like a diary. Anders Petersen likes to explore these enclosed worlds, showing them to the outside world. He sends us back images of worlds that are unusual, disconcerting, but which exist close to us. He becomes a witness and a conduit of visions from one world to another.
Text in English and Swedish. Published in 2002 by Journal.
- Frenchkiss (2008): Black and white. Recto verso. Face to face. Skin on skin. The city and elsewhere. With rage, tenderness and despair, but also with tireless vitality, Anders Petersen confronts us with the state of the world. Today's world. A world in which the animals that rub shoulders with, or avoid, humans share a malaise that is reflected in similar looks. The sensuality of coats in dialogue with tattoos. It doesn't matter where we are. What remains is attention to a marginalized, neglected, flayed humanity, hungry for pleasure, feelings and identity. What if this direct approach were the only acceptable humanist attitude today?
