"The cyclist with the "7-league boots". Dutch middle-distance champion John Schlebaum, who will be defending his country's colors on Saturday and Sunday at the world championships in Rome, was caught by the photographer in this unexpected position. His oversized feet seem to be wearing "seven-league boots". Will this "ogre" of a new kind win the world championship? The Dutch "stayer" Schlebaum, modern ogre with 7-league boots,...seen from below", 1932.
Photograph. Vintage silver print, stamp and label with handwritten caption on back.
