JEAN DIEUZAIDE 1921-2003 - Lot 3

JEAN DIEUZAIDE 1921-2003 My Adventure with Pitch #1, 1956-1958. Photograph. Posterior silver print, author's stamp and "Artistique" stamp on back. Lower left corner marked. 23.7 x 18.2 cm "Pitch, that by-product of coal from which glycerine is extracted, fired red-hot bullets at me, and tar, and asphalt, and bitumen, with their pungent perfume, stuck to my flesh until they drove me mad; another myself struggled in these few squares of glue ; a demonic unease tightened my throat, provoked my senses, and incited me, rushing, in this infernal round, to photograph with malignant pleasure, here, there, and already further away, lest I no longer have the time to capture this unusual."
