"I was able to meet and work with people for whom the body is the tool and means of expression...". He later wrote: "What has become of those anonymous coryphae whom I photographed in 1960 on the deserted staircases I climb today? For those whose bodies are their instruments, the years pass quickly, so quickly, and the applause still resounds that their presence is no more than a memory. But as long as there's a little girl donning her first tutu, these ghosts will live on in the memories passed down from generation to generation, convincing each other that only the ephemeral of art is immortal."
