EDOUARD BOUBAT 1923-1999 - Lot 21
EDOUARD BOUBAT 1923-1999
First snow, Luxembourg Gardens, 1955.
Photograph. Posterior RC print signed, titled and dated in ink on the back.
Image: 15.3 x 22.3 cm; sheet: 17.6 x 23.7 cm
The photographer's aim is to capture the poetry and beauty of the world. Like his work, Boubat often quotes Goethe: "The most difficult thing is that which seems easiest: to truly see what is before our eyes. This photograph of children playing in the snow in Luxembourg has become a photographic icon and a masterpiece in Boubat's work, following in the long artistic line of snowy landscapes, as in the paintings of Brueghel.
