WILLY RONIS 1910-2009 - Lot 53
WILLY RONIS 1910-2009 Le départ du morutier, Fécamp, 1945. Photograph. Posterior silver print signed in ink beneath the image, titled and dated in pencil and stamped by the author and printer on the back. Image: 29.7 x 24.9 cm; sheet: 39.7 x 29.8 cm "In November 1949, Regards commissioned me to do a short report on Fécamp, as the sailors were leaving for Newfoundland. This photograph illustrates the moment of separation. The print was a little difficult, due to the rather harsh backlighting on overcast days. The part of the sky had to be overexposed to reveal the rail and the top of the hull." Willy Ronis
