From the 1960s to the 1980s, Charlotte March was one of the world's leading fashion photographers. The major retrospective at Deichtorhallen Hamburg in 2022 lays the groundwork for the rediscovery of this iconic photographer's work, offering for the first time a comprehensive overview of all her creative periods. From her little-known early work, inspired by the humanist photography movement, which reveals her sensitive eye for the margins of society in post-war Hamburg, to her travels in Italy in the 1960s, as well as her highly influential fashion and advertising photography. His images for magazines such as Twen, Stern, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Elle and Vogue reveal an emancipatory attitude and evoke the notion of a new way of life and the social upheaval of the 1960s.
