ROGER SCHALL 1904-1995 - Lot 63

ROGER SCHALL 1904-1995 Young sportswoman, 1935. Photograph. Vintage silver print, author's stamp on back. 15.5 x 14.6 cm "In the many reports on sports and leisure activities that the photograhe produced in the 1930s, his tour de force was to know how to trigger his Rolleiflex at the precise second when the interest of the scene was gathered. Witnesses to the frenzy of the moment and its contradictions, my Roger Schall photographs convey a certain notion of happiness and youth, dear to the Popular Front, symbol of a new world that everyone hopes for, unconscious or wilfully blind to the clouds gathering in the political sky...".
