Cover detached and horizontal fold. 25 x 19.1 cm In 1933, the French magazine "Arts et Métiers Graphiques" published "Femmes", a portfolio of female nude studies by Sasha Stone, the first in a series of three portfolios devoted to the human body. (The other two, Hommes and Adolescents, never saw the light of day.) Stone's photographs, with their fragmented figures, angular compositions and use of low-angled light, are superb examples of the avant-garde photographic aesthetic in Europe between the two world wars.
