PHILIPPE SALAÜN 1943-2020 - Lot 81
PHILIPPE SALAÜN 1943-2020 Ty-Cam, Brittany, "L'avis des animaux" series, June 1977. Photograph. Posterior silver print signed, titled and dated in pencil on the back. Image: 20.2 x 30.2 cm; sheet: 30.2 x 40.4 cm This image, probably Philippe Salaün's best-known, was long used by ILFORD to advertise its products. It's a fine tribute to this remarkable printer of photos by Doisneau, Boubat, Keita..., in his laboratory on rue Beaurepaire (a name that suited him like a glove), where we used to meet up with photo enthusiasts and ugly puns.
