LEONARD EN FRANCE - LE MAITRE ET SES ELEVES 500 ANS APRES LA TRAVERSÉE DES ALPES 1516-2016
This catalog, published to coincide with the exhibition, presents one of the master's great masterpieces, the Tête de femme dite La Scapigliata (or Scapiliata, in early Italian), a fascinating woman's face with free flowing hair in the National Gallery in Parma. This extraordinary painting is accompanied by other major works by the master's pupils, linked to the masterpieces brought to France by Leonardo (including works by his most loyal collaborators who followed him on his journey, such as Francesco Melzi, or who joined him in France, such as Gian Giacomo Caprotti, known as the Salaì).
This book presents previously unpublished technical studies on all the paintings, carried out on the occasion of the exhibition, and includes texts by Vincent Delieuvin (Musée du Louvre), Louis Frank (Musée du Louvre), Mario Scalini (Superintendent of Emilia-Romagna) and Gennaro Toscano (Bibliothèque Nationale de France) and other international experts.
