Stéphane Érouane Dumas, François Baron-Renouard, Alain Buble - Lot 159
Stéphane Érouane Dumas, François Baron-Renouard, Alain Bublex & Philippe Écharoux Stéphane Érouane Dumas: Droites & courbes (2020)
An ode to the power of Nature, Stéphane Erouane Dumas's spellbinding work sublimates the memory of trees and cliffs, exploring even their bark and lichen, and reaches the timeless frontiers of abstraction. Now, for the first time, he unveils his bronze sculptures with their matte patinas, and his ceramics with their deep cracks, like the cry of a suffering earth. This book, featuring over a hundred works and a previously unpublished text by Pascal Bonafoux, retraces the atypical career of an artist who forges his own path off the beaten art track.
François Baron-Renouard: le magnifique - The magnificent (2021)
Alongside painting, François Baron-Renouard has devoted himself to the applied arts - mosaics, stained-glass windows, tapestries - and his many responsibilities in the service of artists at international fairs and biennials have been striking. His many travels, from Brittany to Japan, inspired an informal body of work in the wake of the new École de Paris. His paintings are poetic inner landscapes, labyrinthine and cosmic. Luminous and musical, the work of this colorist exalts the richness and spiritual plenitude of a man and artist whose language is born of a natural humanism.
Alain Bublex: An American Landscape
"I'm currently working on a new project: a cartoon based on the film First Blood. Having seen it regularly over the years, I noticed that, more than the action, I was attracted by the film's atmosphere, and that this lay in its settings, the landscapes of the Rocky Mountains as winter approached. I found myself convinced that the landscape was one of the film's key players. In order to isolate the landscape from the rest of the film, I set about redrawing each scene one after the other, shot by shot, but without ever drawing the actors or the action. Just the settings, the city, the roads, the mountains and the forests. The action film then transforms itself into a poetic, melancholy ode to nature and landscapes. It brings to the surface images of American landscape painting and photography (from the Hudson River School to the hyperrealists, via the regionalists of the 1930s, Stephen Shore and Walker Evans), and highlights the importance - quite unique, I believe - of the natural landscape in the construction of the American identity." Since his first solo exhibition in 1992, Alain Bublex has been constantly reinventing the idea of travel, placing photography at the heart of his visual practice while combining it with drawing. But more than displacement and movement, it's the landscape itself that emerges as his main subject. The United States held a special place in this development. In search of Glooscap (an imaginary city that exists only in its archives), he criss-crossed the North American continent from east to west, north to south, returning convinced that landscapes have played a primordial role in the constitution of the American nation.
Philippe Écharoux: From school benches to museum (2020)
"I don't have a problem with rules, I simply prefer to draw freehand." Philippe Echaroux "I wanted to propose art that was gentle in form but terribly impactful." "Philippe Echaroux is an urban artist who pierces walls, dematerializing them. Abandoning aerosol cans, he uses light to project his graffiti and photographic portraits onto architecture, and even more so onto nature. Trees are the new medium on which he projects messages and portraits of local inhabitants, inviting us to reflect on man's place in his environment. Ephemeral, his works are governed by the temporality of the daily cycle, allowing themselves to be seen only at night. Illicit without being vandalistic, this urban art is always respectful of nature, and therefore of the human being who is an inseparable part of it." Cyrille Gouyette
