Lindbergh Peter Untold Stories. This publication accompanies - Lot 133
Lindbergh Peter Untold Stories. This publication accompanies the first exhibition curated by Peter Lindbergh himself. Gifted with total artistic freedom, Lindbergh has assembled a previously unpublished selection that sheds unexpected light on his colossal body of work. Recognized the world over, Lindbergh's images have left an indelible imprint on contemporary culture, redefining the parameters of fashion photography over the past 40 years. Here, the photographer experiments with his own work, telling new stories while remaining true to his lexicon. Combining images both iconic and never-before-exhibited, he challenges his own icons and presents intimate moments shared with personalities who have been close to him over the years. These include Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Robin Wright, Jessica Chastain, Jeanne Moreau, Naomi Campbell, Charlotte Rampling and many more. This XL volume presents over 150 photographs, many of which have never been published or only published fleetingly, usually commissioned by fashion monthlies such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Interview, Rolling Stone, W Magazine or The Wall Street Journal. A lengthy conversation between Lindbergh and Kunstpalast director Felix Krämer, as well as a tribute by his close friend Wim Wenders, provide a fresh perspective on the creation of the exhibition. The result is an intimate profession of faith by Lindbergh about his work. "When I first saw my photos hung on the wall on the exhibition model, I was flabbergasted, but positively so. It was unsettling to the last degree to see who I am presented to my own eyes in this way." - Peter Lindbergh, 2019
