ROMAIN SLOCOMBE 1953 - Lot 49
ROMAIN SLOCOMBE 1953 "Tokyo, a floating world"; Michel Baverey éditeur, 1997. Paperback, illustrated cover; original blinged French, English edition; numbered S.P. copy; preface by Jean-Luc Fromental; during one of his stays in Tokyo, Romain Slocombe sought out Nobuyoshi Araki to make a film about him. This book is the photographic account of his trip, followed by his logbook. He relies on signs to help him drift through the city. He meets friends who become his models and willingly lend themselves to his "medical art". With him, we lose ourselves in the floating world, the poetic and raw world of Tokyo night, where desires are exacerbated. A photographic journey through the many portraits of women in contemporary Tokyo and the story of the author's encounter with Araki, this book takes its title from the film that caused a scandal at the Rencontres d'Arles in 1995. In-8 (22 x 17 cm) Very good condition.
