OCEAN LINER - KEYSTONE - Lot 372
OCEAN LINER - KEYSTONE "Americans want to buy the "Liberté" and turn it into a floating hotel. Organizers of a major international exhibition to be held in Seattle in 1962 are reportedly planning to buy the "Liberté" liner, which is about to be decommissioned, from Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. With the "Liberté" docked in Seattle, this would represent an additional 1,500 rooms for visitors, who could also enjoy live entertainment and a French restaurant on board. Potential buyers would offer 1 billion 500 old francs. The "Liberté" in New York harbor", September 30, 1961. Photograph. Vintage silver print, stamped and labeled with a handwritten caption on the back. 12.8 x 18.1 cm
