ANDY WARHOL - Lot 1
ANDY WARHOL "Record Covers 1949–1987: A Catalogue Raisonné"; Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, 2008; 240 pages. Book; illustrated hardcover with a round window revealing the title page; first edition; text by Paul Maréchal; catalog raisonné of the 51 record sleeves illustrated by Andy Warhol between 1949 and 1987. Early in his career in New York, the young and then-unknown Andy Warhol offered his services to record labels by calling them. He created his first record sleeve in 1949....about fifty more would follow through 1987, tracing a little-known thread in his body of work as an illustrator and artist, but also, quietly, a history of the cardboard sleeve. This book catalogs all the record sleeves attributed to or associated with Andy Warhol; in addition to album presentation booklets and publications containing flexi-discs, such as the December 1966 issue of *Aspen Magazine* or the *Andy Warhol Index (Book)* published in 1967. In-4 (30 x 30 cm). A fine copy.
