"Le botte-cul"; Lausanne Cantonal School of Art, 2002.
Book; spiral-bound; first edition of this remarkable exhibition catalog; texts by Pierre Keller, Alexis Georgacopoulos, and Chantal Prod’Hom; catalog of works created by students centered on milking stools, commonly known as “botte-cul”; the "botte-cul" is defined as a single-legged stool that is fastened around the waist before one sets about, vigorously yet with finesse, milking a cow. When worn, the “botte-cul” takes on the appearance of a sort of prosthesis integrated into the body, naturally adapting to one’s movements and pauses. Always ready to offer you a seat whenever you wish, it also keeps your hands free at all times. What could be better? The designers invited by the Lausanne Cantonal School of Art, with a playful spirit and astonishing creativity, have reimagined, expanded, or developed certain aspects of this object through experiments with form, function, materials, the Alpine context, Swiss identity, mobility—and, of course, without forgetting the sexual connotation.
