Ben (Ben Vautier) (French, born in Italy): “Oh Ben, you’re silly—you talk too much about art” (Addi told me that one day), from the portfolio “Hommage à Arthur Köpcke,” 1979 (signed)
Silkscreen print with original photograph mounted on cardboard.
Signed and numbered 93/100 by the artist (edition of 100 copies + XXX artist’s proofs).
Dimensions: Sheet: 40 × 39.7 cm (15 3/4 × 15 5/8 in.)
Condition: Very good condition, unframed.
Print taken from the portfolio *Hommage à Arthur Köpcke*, published in 1979 by Den Danske Radeerforening af 1853, Copenhagen, in memory of Fluxus pioneer Arthur “Addi” Köpcke (1928–1977); copies are held at the Harvard Art Museums, the mumok in Vienna, and the Broad in Los Angeles. Ben, a master of “nioçis” writing and a pillar of the European Fluxus movement, transforms here a jibe once directed at him by Köpcke into a self-deprecating memorial in his characteristic style—accompanied by an original photograph mounted directly onto the support.
