A barge at the dock and a low embankment stretch across the sheet beneath a pale green sky; bare pollarded trees filter the ochre and gray blocks of the opposite bank, with the bridge framing the composition on the right; the water below reflects the entire scene in broken, dark reflections. Forissier builds the scene with layers of flat colors, the drawing reduced to a few black lines, and the palette limited to verdigris, ochre, and rust tones.
