A boat pulled ashore crosses diagonally across a shoreline populated by small figures—women carrying buckets or leaning over a tub, a man in a wide-brimmed hat, bathers and strollers scattered toward a palm tree and a hillside village—all set against a band of dense hatching that darkens the sky. The soft-ground technique gives the plate its uniform texture from edge to edge.
