Plate from *L'Estampe Moderne*, the famous subscription publication that appeared monthly in Paris from May 1897 to April 1899 under the direction of Ch. Masson and H. Piazza and printed by Imprimerie Champenois, with each issue featuring four original lithographs commissioned specifically for the magazine, accompanied by a captioned strip. Meunier, a Brussels poster artist and nephew of the sculptor Constantin Meunier, presents here one of the iconic images of Belgian Art Nouveau—a profile against a setting sun, rendered in four flat colors and a single sinuous line.
