Description: A hard-edge color composition created specifically for the Stedelijk Museum’s iconic portfolio designed by Wim Crouwel and printed by Total Design, Amsterdam. Georg Karl Pfahler was the leading German exponent of hard-edge painting; his vibrant “Formativ” compositions, with their interlocking planes of color, established him as a key figure in postwar European color abstraction; he represented Germany at the Venice Biennale in 1970. The portfolio brought together original silkscreen prints by Kelly, Bonies, Pfahler, and Turnbull, alongside a panorama of contemporary abstraction (Albers, Newman, Stella, Judd, Vasarely, Noland, and others).
