Description: A hard-edge color composition created specifically for the Stedelijk Museum’s iconic portfolio designed by Wim Crouwel and printed by Total Design, Amsterdam. William Turnbull was a leading Scottish sculptor, painter, and printmaker, a member of the Independent Group in 1950s London, whose radically simplified painting of the 1960s ranks among the purest British contributions to hard-edge and Color Field art. The portfolio brought together original silkscreen prints by Kelly, Bonies, Pfahler, and Turnbull, alongside a survey of contemporary abstraction (Albers, Newman, Stella, Judd, Vasarely, Noland, and others).
