From the Atelier de Georges LAPORTE

Online sale Thursday June 13, 2024 at 8 pm

Georges Laporte began exhibiting at the Salon des Surindépendants in 1946. This marked the beginning of a long career

dedicated to painting and lithography.

The artist painted solidly constructed pictures in an expressionist spirit.

Laporte is a painter of seascapes, landscapes and nature. Don't look for anecdotal

characters or anecdotal scenes, as he prefers to describe the flow of the sea, the tranquillity of

or the joy of a bouquet of flowers.

As with Vlaminck, his plein-air painting is a search for the essential, for sincerity and poetry.

sincerity and poetry.

Georges Laporte's paintings and engravings give the viewer the feeling of being at the artist's side

artist as he paints or draws.

Three works are dedicated to the artist: a monograph by Armand Lanoux in 1982 and two

monographs, published by Vision Nouvelle, in 1989.

This collection comes from the artist's family, who have chosen to promote the Œuvre lithographié

by combining it in this sale with a dozen paintings.

These lithographs, direct from the studio, have the advantage of never having been framed.

paper and colors have retained all their freshness.

We have chosen not to mention an estimate range, preferring to indicate only the starting

of each lot. In this way, we can better respect the spirit of this creation, which owes nothing to quotations.
