"The principal chief of the Qagyuhl is shown in a "button blanket" (which is simply a wool blanket adorned with hundreds of large mother-of-pearl buttons), a cedar bark neck ring and a cedar bark headband. His right hand grasps a shaman's rattle, and on the left is the carved staff that, as a sort of emblem of office, a man always holds while making a speech. The button motifs along the edge of the cover represent "coppers""- Edward Curtis. A similar print is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.
