This mission to Peru was led by Eugène Robuchon, an explorer from Poitiers and member of the Société de Géographie de Paris and son of the photographer Jules Robuchon. It was ordered by Arana Hermanos in 1904 to survey the rubber district of Putumayo between Caqueta and Napo for the Peruvian government. It left on September 18, 1904, from La Chorrera. Reports of work on the Huitoto and Nonuyas communities were found but Robuchon disappeared in the Caqueta territories. The Peruvian government claimed that he was a victim of cannibalism, but others speculated that he was murdered by Company assassins because Robuchon's photographs threatened to reveal the atrocities committed on the local tribes.
