ROBERT CAPA 1913-1954 - Lot 46
ROBERT CAPA 1913-1954 Norman farmers welcome GI's and offer them cider, June 1944. Photograph. Silver print 1984 stamped and captioned in ink on the back. Bibliography: Robert Capa "Images of War", Grossman Publishers, New York, 1964, p.119. Robert Capa is internationally recognized as the world's greatest war photographer. His images of the Spanish Civil War and the Allied landings in Normandy are famous. As a correspondent for major illustrated newspapers such as "Life", "Colliers" and "Holiday", he followed every conflict, in China, Israel and Indochina, where he died tragically in 1954. His emotionally-charged images transcend historical truth, paving the way for contemporary photojournalism.
